Zoey (born
January 21 ,1984 -) is aJ-pop singer fromJapan . Her career started at age 16 after successfully auditioning forUnderCover Inc. , a music production company headquartered inOsaka, Japan . After two years ofvocal training she traveled toLondon with her producer, Michael T. Martin to record almost 2 albums worth of material.She debuted in London with the release of a remix entitled "You Make Me Feel" PlanitB Remix, followed by "Iyana Yatsu" PlanitB Remix. Both songs, produced by Russell McNamara, charted well on the DJ Dance charts ranking respectfully at #3 and #2.
Upon Zoey's return to Japan she signed with
Columbia Records and released her first single "Venus as a Boy ", aBjörk cover sung in Japanese, on Sept. 3, 2003. Her second single "Fake Smile" was released on Nov. 5, 2003 followed by her first album "Zoey" on Jan. 7, 2004. Her third single, "Soakin' Wet" produced by producersJimmy Jam and Terry Lewis was released on June 23, 2004. Zoey can also be heard singing back vocals onGwen Stefani 's Jam & Lewis produced song "Harajuku Girls".Zoey is scheduled to release a new single "Iyana Yatsu" on Sept. 30, 2006 and a new album "Acre Lane" on Nov. 22, 2006 by Rock Chipper Records.
