KC Wildmoon

KC Wildmoon, born in Morristown, Tennessee on January 13, 1957, and raised in Russellville, Tennessee, is a writer, songwriter and musician now living in Georgia.

She attended Morristown-Hamblen High School East, where she wrote for the school newspaper, and, for a short period, Tennessee Tech before moving to Atlanta, Georgia.

In Atlanta, Wildmoon performed as a solo singer-songwriter for a number of years before meeting fellow writer-songwriter-guitarist Jan Gibson and forming the band "Moral Hazard" ( [http://www.moralhazard.us/] ) in 1979. The band made its debut in "Moral Hazard Flight 101" at Atlanta's 7 Stages Theatre and went on to perform two more stage shows and numerous music performances, including the Southern Women's Music and Comedy Festival and RhythmFest.

Moral Hazard has also recorded a CD/cassette tape, "Step Over This Line." The band still exists, at least in name, and is considering a return to active performance, perhaps under a new name.

Wildmoon has also worked as an audio engineer for RhythmFest, the Dancers' Collective, Lee Harper Dancers and the National Black Arts Festival.

In the early 1980s through the mid-1990s, Wildmoon worked at WRFG-FM, hosting the show "Still Ain't Satisfied." While hosting the show, she was asked by the editor of the gay and lesbian newspaper Southern Voice to write music reviews. Later, she also wrote theater reviews and the op/ed column "Heterodoxy" before becoming staff writer, covering news events in Atlanta and the southeast.

She also wrote for other gay and lesbian publications, including The Advocate, the Seattle Gay News and the Washington Blade.

In 1995, Wildmoon went to work as a writer for CNN.com and since 2001 has been an editor on CNN's internal wires desk.
