George Elliott Howard, Ph.D. (1849 – 1928) was an American educator and author, born at
Saratoga, New York .He graduated from the
University of Nebraska in 1876, studied inEurope at the universities ofMunich andParis (1876-1878), and was professor of history in theUniversity of Nebraska from 1879 to 1891, and professor at Stanford from 1891 to 1901.Professor Howard lectured at
Cornell University (1902) and at theUniversity of Chicago (1903-1904), then returned to the University of Nebraska.His publications include:
