Tahmina

Tahmineh ( _fa. تهمينه) is one of female characters of the Shahnameh epic. She was the King of Samangan's daughter who married Rostam and she was Sohrab's mother.

In the Shahnameh, Rostam and Sohrab's story begins when Rostam loses his horse, Rakhsh. Following the horse's tracks, he reaches the city of Samangan. The king of Samangan invites Rostam to stay for the night, and Rostam accepts. That night, Tahmineh comes to Rostam's bedchambers and declares her love for him. Rostam sleeps with Tahmineh that night and gives her a jewel from the band around his arm. Upon finding his horse, he leaves the city of Samangan the next day.

In the final battle, when Rostam kills Sohrab, he discovers the jewel, realizing that Sohrab is his son.
