The Superficial is known for its sharply negative and biting wit. Unlike other celebrity news sites such as E! Online and TMZ.com, The Superficial lampoons the behavior of celebrities, to a degree even greater than Perez Hilton. In particular, The Superficial currently focuses a disproportionate number of items to the often drunken misadventures of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan, which it has dubbed "The Unholy Trinity," [http://thesuperficial.com/2006/11/lindsay_lohan_paris_hilton_and.php] as well as Amy Winehouse [http://thesuperficial.com/2008/05/amy_winehouse_stuck_in_traffic.php] and Heidi Montag [http://thesuperficial.com/2008/09/spencer_pratt_getting_a_manicu.php] . The Superficial is also unafraid to make bold statements, such as referring to Heidi Klum and Seal's first son as an "ugly mole creature." [http://www.thesuperficial.com/archives/2005/10/19/heidi_klum_has_an_ugly_baby.html] The Superficial sometimes posts "Not Suitable For Work" (NSFW) photographs of celebrities, notably Britney Spears and Tara Reid, in various states of public undress.

The Superficial writer often refers to his "midget" infatuation for actress Hayden Panettiere [http://thesuperficial.com/2008/07/hayden_panettiere_does_a_strip.php] , and posts pictures of various female celebrities in bikinis [http://thesuperficial.com/2008/09/caroline_damore_in_a_revealing.php] . He also often makes jokes about his sex life, as well as the size of his penis.

As of October 2, 2008, The Superficial writer has ended his obsession with Hayden Panettiere. [http://thesuperficial.com/2008/10/hayden_panettiere_we_need_to_t.php]
