Jane Arraf studied
journalism inCarleton University inOttawa ,Canada . One of her first jobs was working forReuters . In 1984, she was a bureau chief inMontreal . Then she moved on to a desk editor inNew York City in 1987. In 1990, she went toJordan to be theAmman bureau chief before returning to her desk-editing job in New York City and later inWashington, D.C. Her last job in Reuters was as a correspondent in RFTV (Reuters Financial Television ). During her time there, she covered the U.S. presence in Bosnia, the fall of theHaiti an regime and theGulf War .In 1997, she joinedCNN as theBaghdad bureau chief until 2004 (except for 2000-01 asIstanbul bureau chief) then moving on to be a senior Baghdad correspondent. During the time she spent in CNN, she covered various subjects including most recently theIraq war . She was the only western correspondent based inIraq during the sanctions after the 1991 Gulf War. Arraf is now with the prestigiousCouncil on Foreign Relations and withNBC News , reporting for "NBC Nightly News " withBrian Williams .External links
