It is situated 175 km north-west of the capitalNiamey , close to the border withBurkina Faso .it is mainly inhabited bySonhgai ,Fulani ,Gourmantche andBuzu ethnic groups. The majority of the population are farmers. Every Thursday marks the market day at Tera.
