This album ="Trapt " (2002)
Next album ="Someone in Control " (2005)"Trapt" is the self-titled
debut album from thealternative metal band of the same name. With three hit singles, the album ascended to #42 on theBillboard 200 album sales chart. It went gold in May 2003 then platinum in November of that same year, making it Trapt's most successful album to date.History
Trapted recorded their debut album with the meticulous
GGGarth over a ten week period in winter of 2002. The band was allowed creative control to choose a producer and ultimately picked Garth overHoward Benson . One month prior to "Trapt"'s release, the band was about to perform in the opening slot on the biggest tour of their career. However,Richard Patrick of Filter, the tour's headlining band, checked into rehab and forced its cancellation only a day before Trapt's first performance. This was partially blamed for the slow chart ascension of their debut single, "Headstrong." Nevertheless, the Los Gatos group achieved significant exposure through radio, video, and concert success in the following months. They began their Under the Radar Tour in 2003 to promote "Trapt". The album's simple cover art depicts an urban man pushing a
lawn mower with the Trapt logo laid directly across the image. This photograph, and the fact that the album was self-titled, tie in and likely reference the meaning behind the band's name. This revolves around the idea that the typical urban family maps out the futures of its children which may consequently make them feel "trapped" into an uncompromising path not chosen themselves. Thus, the semi-focused photograph represents the stagnancy of a dull, urban lifestyle.Track listing
