Simeon Aké (b.
4 January ,1932 inBingerville - d.8 January ,2003 inAbidjan ) was an Ivorian politician.Simeon Aké studied law in the
University of Dakar inSenegal , and gained his certificate in 1957. Aké began his political career as Director of Protocol of State in from 1959-60, when theIvory Coast gained independence. He served as adiplomat in itsembassy inNew York in 1961-63,USA , and then asambassador inLondon , 1964-66, with responsibility forGreat Britain andNorthern Ireland ,Denmark ,Sweden andNorway . In 1966 he was appointed ambassador of the Ivory Coast to theUnited Nations . He headed, in this capacity, the UN visiting mission toSpanish Sahara in 1975. From 1977 to 1990, he served as Foreign Minister of the Ivory Coast, under PresidentFélix Houphouët-Boigny . He was a member of the Directing Committee and Political Bureau of the Parti Démocratique de Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), which from 1960-1990 headed asingle-party system in the Ivory Coast.External links
