In the Hebrew language, "et" is an Accusative particle, untranslatable into English. It is the 4th word in the Hebrew Bible. It is spelled alef-tav (the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet).

Et can also be a past-tense form of "eat" (used similarly to "ate") as pronounced in some parts of eastern and southern USA.
