Kim Tserkezie

Kim Tserkezie, born 30 July 1973 in Newcastle upon Tyne, is a British actress. She is best known for playing the role of Penny Pocket in the BBC children's programme "Balamory".

Like her character in "Balamory", Kim is a paraplegic, and has used a wheelchair for most of her life. After giving up a degree course in Combined Arts at the University of Sunderland, she worked as a TV and radio researcher before moving into acting. She has a son, Jay, born in 1995.

The character of "Penny Pocket" got her name from the fact that in pilot episodes she would frequently pick the pockets of the local people who would visit the shop.
