Vasant Honavar is an
India n Americancomputer scientist , specializing inartificial intelligence . He received his Ph.D. in 1990 from theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison , where he worked withLeonard Uhr .Vasant Honavar is a
professor ofComputer Science atIowa State University . He heads theIowa State University Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory. He is the founding director of theIowa State University Center for Computational Intelligence, Learning and Discovery. He is on the faculty of the interdepartmental graduate programs inBioinformatics ,Computational Biology , andHuman-Computer Interaction atIowa State University . He has held visiting professorships atCarnegie Mellon University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Vasant Honavar is known for his research contributions in
artificial intelligence ,machine learning ,neural networks ,semantic web andbioinformatics andcomputational biology . He has published over 190 refereed research articles as well as several books on these topics. His recent work is focused on data integration and knowledge discovery from semantically heterogeneous data sources, learning from biological data, and modular ontologies.Major works
