Adam Gruca

Adam Gruca (1893-1983) was a famous Polish orthopaedist, inventor, and surgeon. He is considered to be the founder of modern orthopedic in Poland. Gruca also invented various orthopaedic instruments and appliances. [E.g., U.S. Patent 2,067,567] The The Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology named the Adam Gruca Award in his honor.

During the war, he organized the Citizens' Committee in Lwóv to provide food and clothing for prisoners in concentration camps.
