Princess Rooney Handicap

The Princess Rooney Handicap is an American Grade I thoroughbred horse race run annually at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens, Florida. Named for the U.S. Hall of Fame filly Princess Rooney, the race is for fillies and mares three-years-old or older. Run at a distance of six furlongs makes it a premiere race for sprinting fillies.

Part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winner of the 2008 Frizette Stakes automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. [http://www.breederscup.com/challenge.aspx]

Inaugurated in 1985, in 2006 it was a first time Grade I, offering a purse of $500,000.
