Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve
- Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve
The Royal Navy Canadian Volunteer Reserve (RNCVR) was a naval reserve that was established on 14 May 1914.
The RNCVR provided the RN with 1,200 extra sailors to protect Canada's coast line.
Organization
The RNCVR consisted of three geographic commands:
* Atlantic
* Pacific
* Lake (representing inland areas)
Demise
The RNCVR quickly rose to prominence during the First World War, but, along with the Royal Canadian Navy, was neglected after the war drew to a close.
The RNCVR was replaced by the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1923.
