- Asselar man
Asselar Man is a
neolithic skeleton discovered byTheodore Monod andM.V. Besnard in 1927, in theAdrar des Ifoghas , nearEssouk in what is nowMali 'sKidal Region .Wickliffe Draper funded the expedition. Some scholars believe Asselar man to possibly be the oldest known skeleton of a Bantu type African human. Others claim it is more closely related toCro-Magnon andbushmen [http://www.lesbantous.fr/histoire.html] . In any case, it is remarkably young, with most placing its age as young as 4500BC to no older than theHolocene .More recently Peter Frost hypothesized Asselar Man, hence what most associate with black African racial type, to be the result of intense polygyny arising from women's independence due to the neolithic spread of agriculture throughout sub-Saharan Africa [http://evoandproud.blogspot.com/2008/02/origins-of-black-africans.html] .
