John Almond was a Cistercian monk. He is commemorated as a Confessor of the Faith in the Roman Catholic Church, and his name has been included in the supplementary process of the English Martyrs.cite book|last=Herbermann|first=Charles George|title=The Catholic Encyclopedia|publisher=Universal Knowledge Foundation|date=1913|pages=p328|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=FmgQAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA328&dq=%22John+Almond%22+1585&lr=lang_en&num=50&as_brr=3&ei=zkRaSIedDKHOjgH25ICSDA]

He came from Cheshire, and was a monk in the time of Henry VIII, but neither his abbey nor his fate during and after its suppression have been identified.

He died in prison at Hull Castle on 18 April 1585, having been imprisoned there since 1579.cite book|last=Gasquet|first=Francis Aidan|title=Henry VIII and the English Monasteries|publisher=J.
