Klaus began playing professionally for his home team of
TuS Gerresheim . His first foray into the national spotlight was when he was playing forFortuna Düsseldorf . In 1981 he began to play for1. FC Köln . Later on in his career he mananged to move on to another team,Olympique Marseille . After a moderately successful spell he moved to Bordeaux, before finishing his playing career inWerder Bremen in 1993.Allofs played a total of 424 matches in the Bundesliga. He summed up a total 177 goals. He shares his goalscoring scoring record with
Dieter Müller , meaning that he is ranked seventh in the alltime goalscorers records.International career
Allofs played for his nation of
Germany a total of 56 times and acquired 17 goals. His first time playing for his nation in an actual match came onOctober 11 , 1978 inPrague against Czechoslovakia. He was subsituted in forRonald Worm . Allofs was also part of the 1980 which went onto be European Champions for that year - it was also the year he became top goalscorer.Honours
In 1979 and 1985 Allofs became top goalscorer in the Bundesliga. Between 1979 and 1991 he won the German Football Association Cup four times, and in 1992 he won the Cup Winners' Cup with Werder Bremen.
Coaching career
In 1999 Allofs was hired temporarily as the manager and coach of
Fortuna Düsseldorf . After leaving his position as manager and coach of the club, he became a member of the board of directors at Werder Bremen and presently works there as the general manager.External links
