Djiguiya

Djiguiya is a musical group based on the traditional music of Burkina Faso There are eleven members, included singers, dancers, percussionists and balafon players. Djiguiya is also an association devoted to helping children and the poor; their project's have included homeless shelters and job training. Most of the members come from the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, especially the Dioulassoba and Farakan sectors. They are mostly Bobo, or Samo, Dafi or Mossi. Djiguiya's first album, "Sakidi", came out in 2003, though they had performed back to 1996, including at the Cultural Week of Bobo Dioulasso and Nuits Atypiques de Koudougou music festivals.
