Boarhouse

Boarhouse

Doug and Marty's Boarhouse or Chesterfields, as it was previously known, is a 24 hour bar and restaurant located in central Moscow. The bar was opened in 1997 by Canadian Doug Steele along with expat club-owner Jean-Michel and Englishman Martin Bainbridge. Doug was previously the owner of the well known night club in Moscow, "The Hungry Duck". Steele left the Boar House in 2006 to form the "Doug Steele Restaurants" venture, planning to open a series of restaurants and bars throughout Moscow. This venture failed in 2007 after the opening of three establishments - one of them has now closed and the others are under new management.

As of 2006, the Boarhouse is successfully managed by Mark Grobman, an American expat with extensive New York and Los Angeles night club and restaurant management experience. In addition to managing Boarhouse, Mark is overseeing operation of Moscow's franchise of "Hard Rock Cafe" and developing fast-food chains "Citi Burger" and "Blinnitsa".

The Boarhouse is a popular place for Moscow expats and visiting foreigners. Foreigners are attracted by the low priced food and alcohol, as well as the showing of major sporting events. However, one of the other reasons for its popularity is due to Russian prostitutes.
