Boris Nikolayevich Ponomarev ( _ru. Борис Николаевич Пономарев) (
January 17 ,1905 -December 21 ,1995 ) was aSoviet politician ,ideologist andhistorian , and a member of the Secretariat of theCommunist Party of the Soviet Union .From 1955 to 1986, he was chief of the International Department of the
CPSU Central Committee - and effectively in control of policy in theWorld Communist Movement . He occupied an office within Central Committee headquarters right up until the 1991 August Coup, which he is said to have supported.He wrote the "History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union" in 1960 in which he claimed that the October Revolution was a working class revolution.
