census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,438 people, 501 households, and 383 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 43.2 people per square mile (16.7/km²). There were 521 housing units at an average density of 15.7/sq mi (6.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.98% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.28% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 0.70% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.There were 501 households out of which 40.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.1% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% were non-families. 18.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.32.
