census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,014 people, 319 households, and 267 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 30.7 people per square mile (11.9/km²). There were 323 housing units at an average density of 9.8/sq mi (3.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.93% White, 0.59% Black or African American, 0.10% Asian, 0.59% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.79% of the population.There were 319 households out of which 38.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.7% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.3% were non-families. 10.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.98 and the average family size was 3.18.
In the town the population was spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males.
