The Singapore History Museum (
abbreviation : SHM; Chinese: 新加坡历史博物馆) was the name for theNational Museum of Singapore from1993 to2006 . The museum was one of the three nationalmuseum s ofSingapore , and was housed at the National Museum Building till2003 and later atRiverside Point until2006 . The museum housesSingapore artifacts, photos andreplicas of Singapore's history. Its original and permanent location is atStamford Road , which was closed on28 April 2003 for major upgrading works and to build a new wing on the old Drama Centre site. The building was completed in2006 and re-opened as theNational Museum of Singapore , its former name adopted in1965 and used till1993 .There was a permanent exhibition at
Riverside Point , known as "Rivertales", the exhibition started from28 August 2003 and ended on6 March 2006 to prepare for the move back toStamford Road .Literature
