Queensland Right to Life has been funded by donation only since its inception in 1970. The association was formed by a group of Christian women who saw what was happening in America in regards to the push for abortion to be legalised and wanted to prevent the same thing happening here.
Their belief that abortion does not solve a problem, it just creates a different one sadly involving a dead baby, has shown to be true with studies coming out showing the increase of depression in women who have had an abortion.
At the General Meeting on 21st June 2008, the members present voted for a change of name from "Queensland Right to Life" to "Cherish Life Queensland". This was done to more accurately reflect what the organisation stands for - not just the right to life of the baby, but the cherishing of life from conception (ie the embryonic stem cell research is destructive to human life) until natural death (that the encouraged demise of the frail, elderly and infirm by euthanasia is wrong).
