GPPP

GPPP

Global public-private partnership (GPPP) is a new governance mechanism to foster cooperation between an international intergovernmental organisation like the United Nations and private companies.

It is an effort to move away from hierarchical, vertical, inter-governmental institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO), towards horizontal, participative, coordinating arrangements between private organizations, companies, and other non-governmental institutions. Since it is a fairly new mechanisms, there is no defined structure or standard organization.

Existing GPPPs strive to increase affordable access to essential drugs in developing countries, promote handwashing with soap to reduce diarrhoea, to introduce digital opportunities to developing countries, etc.
