reggae /electronica band based inManchester ,England . They formed in 1991, originally as The Sugar Merchants.Personnel

The members sung or 'toasted' vocals on their
music . They scored twoTop 40 hits in theUK Singles Chart - "Policeman Skank...(The Story Of My Life)", and acover version ofThe Clash 's "Bankrobber ". Famous admirers of the group wereU2 andIan Brown . Audioweb supported U2 atWembley Stadium in August 1997. They also supportedMadness at Madstock '96 atFinsbury Park ,London .The band split up in 1999.
Bassist McCann now plays withBadly Drawn Boy , whilst Maxi has drummed for Ian Brown since 2001. Merchant is presently working on a new musical project with ex-record company owner Simon Collier.Discography
