FloydFest

FloydFest

"FloydFest"' is a world music and arts festival held annually in Floyd County, Virginia, situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It began in 2002 and has received excellent reviews ever since, earning a name for itself in 2005 when it played host to well-known folk singer Ani DiFranco. It lasts for four days with on-site camping and has over seven stages featuring World, Bluegrass, Reggae, Folk, African and Appalachian performers and showcases local Arts and Crafts, in addition to scheduling music and dance workshops and other small events, such as morning yoga lessons, story telling, and poetry readings, and a Children's Universe tent.

Each Floydfest festival has a theme. The themes from the first annual FloydFest including the upcoming Summer 2008 are:

Reviews for Floydfest World Music Festival

Floydfest '04

"Some larger festivals boast a similar peace, love and music philosophy, but Floyd actually lives it, not just for one weekend, but throughout the entire year." ~ [http://www.glidemagazine.com/1/reviews513.html Glide Magazine]

Floyfest '05

"Floyd sits in a timeless, beautiful section of Virginia, far enough from bigger cities like Roanoke and Danville to feel like it's truly in the middle of nowhere" ~ [http://www.musictoday.com/news/livereview/floyd4.asp Musictoday Live Review]

"The only thing constant on the festival grounds was the flow of culturally powerful music and mud covered feet." ~ [http://www.findwhatyoulove.com/review_story_chris_floydfest.html MSN Music Review]
