Blob theory

Blob theory

In philosophy, blob theory (also called metaphysical nihilism, or sometimes called mereological nihilism) is the position that properties do not exist. The reality that humans experience is a reality of properties.Fact|date=February 2008

For example, 'the apple is red', where red is what we experience, and is a property of the apple. Blob theory maintains that our experience is wrong, and there is no red, on this example.Fact|date=February 2008

Philosophers that have been or are blob theorists, are Willard Van Orman Quine and Peter Unger.Fact|date=February 2008

Blob theory has many similarities with the philosophies of nominalism and conceptualism.
