Tania Rattray-Wagner

Tania Verene Rattray-Wagner is an independent member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council (upper house) in the electoral division of Apsley. Tania was first elected on 1 May, 2004. She was also part of the Dorset municipal council and was deputy mayor. She was first elected to the Dorset municipal council in 1996, becoming deputy mayor in 2002. Tania stood for election in the Apsley division in 2004 when her father Colin Rattray retired. She won the vote narrowly, nearly being defeated by Brendon Thompson gaining the lead through preferences ("see single transferable vote"). There has been some controversy when she opposed the state governments attempted aboriginal land title hand back negotiations. After being elected Tania has promised she will try and attend as many functions in the community as possible.
