The MV Logos II is a 4804 ton ship built in Spain, 1967, which was purchased in 1989 by Educational Book Exhibits Ltd., a private,
non-profit ,charitable organisation registered in the UK. She entered service in 1990. The age of people on board ranges from babies a few months old to some people in their seventies. General
volunteer s usually commit themselves for two years, and must raise their own financial support for their period of service. Qualified personnel, such as Deck Officers and Marine Engineers, commonly serve for shorter periods, also unpaid, as they usually have other work commitments.The main purpose of the ship, is to bring knowledge, help and hope to the people of the world, as well as exposing young people to international volunteer work. The ship also provides substantial service in providing affordable quality general and educational literature in her ports of call. Over the years, more than 9 million visitors have come on board for tours, programmes and visits to the bookshop. With over 280 ports of call, the ship has visited 76 countries: Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Near East and many island nations. Volunteer groups from the ship also get involved in practical aid in needy situations, from small-scale building and renovation to larger scale reconstruction, such as building multiple hut shelters in Grenada following a hurricane in 2004.
