Camberley inSurrey . Founded in 1895 as St. Michael's, Camberley F.C., the club was renamed Camberley & Yorktown F.C. in 1901. A further change of name occurred after the Second World War, when the club was simply called Camberley F.C. In 1967 Camberley merged with the town's other senior club, Camberley Wanderers, to become Camberley Town F.C.The club currently runs two senior sides. The first team play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, while the reserves play in the Suburban League North Division.
Club honours include various league titles, such as the
Surrey Senior League three years running in the early 1930s, and a few local cups, including theSurrey Senior Cup in 1979 and the Aldershot Senior Cup, which they have won three times. In national competitions, the club's best ever performance in theFA Cup came in 1997–98 when they won through to the First Round Proper, before losing 5–0 at Brentford. Their bestFA Vase performance came in 1985–86, when they reached the quarter-finals, losing 3–1 at eventual winners Halesowen Town.Camberley Town also make ties with the local community by having a thriving youth set-up which has achieved F.A. charter standard. This is for boys and girls from the under 6 to under 18 age groups and is linked right through to the first team. Torquay United playerTim Sills and Paul Harkness who is currently withFarnborough F.C. Other notable past players include 'Archie' Turner who went on to represent England in 1900 and 1901,
Phil Stant and currentRoyal Mail chief executiveAdam Crozier who made three appearances for the first team in February 1992.Wales International defender,Darren Barnard who played professionally for Chelsea , Barnsley and Grimsby Town amongst others has played for the club since 2007, and is now Player/Director Of Football at the club.Another former Chelsea player
Steve Finnieston made an appearance and scored in a friendly in August 1991 but he never played a competitive game for the team however his son, John, spent two seasons with the club between 2006 and 2008.In 1983
Rick Wakeman became the club'schairman while he was living in Camberley. He remained in this post until 1986 when he was electedVice-President . He left the club when he moved to theIsle Of Man in 1988.In 2007-08 the club expanded it's youth section by introducing another under 18's team to compete in the Southern Youth League. This team reached the first round of the
FA Youth Cup where they played Millwall but went down to a 5-0 defeat. They also experienced limited success in the Southern Youth League Cup where they were beaten by Sutton United 2-1 after extra time at the Semi Final stage.Honours
