subdivision ="A. valens" Leidy, 1870 (type)"Antrodemus valens" is a scientific name assigned by American
paleontologist Joseph Leidy in 1870 [Leidy J (1870). Remarks on "Poicilopleuron valens", "Clidastes intermedius", "Leiodon proriger", "Baptemys wyomingensis", and "Emys stevensonianus". Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia 1870: 3-5] to a very fragmentaryallosaurid fossil from theMorrison Formation . Although the specimen quite possibly belonged to "Allosaurus " (and, indeed, some older dinosaur books listed "Allosaurus" as "Antrodemus", because the latter name was specified first), it is impossible to determine this with any degree of accuracy due to the scanty remains of theholotype . Today, "Antrodemus" is considered a dubious name of little scientific value.References
