start =Ledbury station is a small railway station on the outskirts of the town of
Ledbury on theWorcester toHereford line in the EnglishMidlands . It also has services toBirmingham as well asCotswold Line trains to London. The station is the only section of double track, where trains travelling in opposite directions can pass each other, between
Shelwick junction , nearHereford and the portal ofColwall New Tunnel nearGreat Malvern . This means that a delay to one train may hold up one travelling in the opposite direction and lead to further delays to later services. This sometimes results in trains heading towards Hereford being terminated at Ledbury and replacement bus services being laid on (though such decisions were said byCentral Trains to be made only in "exceptional circumstances" [ [http://archive.thisisherefordshire.co.uk/2005/11/7/71390.html Revolt on the 14.59] "This is Herefordshire" archive, URL accessed2006-07-27 ] ).References
