Danny Boome

Danny Boome

Daniel Robert Boome, born on February 14, 1976, grew up in Cambridgeshire, England. The chef and television personality began his career as a professional ice hockey player. He became Captain of England at the age of 16 and capped over 20 times for Great Britain.

Danny’s role as a correspondent on ABC’s new daytime lifestyle show “The Chew” has him covering events and dishing on new and exciting food trends from across America and the world. In addition, Boome will occasionally join the panel in-studio to share his recipes and findings. On the side, Boome brings his passion for food and culinary exploration to homes, schools and lecture halls. He shares his fresh perspective and practical, no-fuss recipes and techniques through cooking workshops, courses and private lessons.

In his Food Network series, “Rescue Chef”, everyday cooks experiencing personal culinary obstacles welcomed Danny Boome into their homes to save the day. As “Rescue Chef” he offered viewers creative solutions and a true understanding of the basics necessary for success in the kitchen.

He started his culinary training in 1999 as a cook in Switzerland doubling up as an au pair for a local family. He later trained at the acclaimed West Wind Inn in Canada and attended the Grange Cookery School in England. His first post as a young chef was at the fashionable Asia de Cuba restaurant in St. Martins Lane London Hotel, which ignited his passion for fusion cookery.

Boome launched his television career in 2004 on UKTV Food’s co-production “Wild and Fresh” where he travelled across Canada seeking out the best home-grown delights each province had to offer. He returned to England to host “Danny By the Sea”, “Coastal Kitchen” and “Local Food Heroes” and had a regular spot on ITV’s “Summer This Morning”. In 2008, Boome became the “Rescue Chef” and was international spokesman for Samsung Refrigerators.

A former English professional ice hockey player, Danny is an active sportsman who enjoys traveling and working with his non-profit organization, Better Fed Than Dead. Throughout the 2011-2012 school year, Danny will contribute to “The Better FED Project.” This one-year case study is aimed at exploring community-based food education programming and helping Americans become more empowered with their lifestyle choices. The project will document and share the effort to transform the national conversation about fitness, and food, both in the classroom and cafeteria and at home.

On September 3rd, 2011 Danny proposed to his girlfriend Lauren on the "sweet heart bridge" in Stamford, England. Lauren accepted and the couple are set to marry in June 2012.

Boome also has projects though his own production company, Crash Bang Boome Productions, up for consideration in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.
