USS Kleinsmith

The name USS "Kleinsmith" has been assigned twice to ships of the United States Navy, in honor of Chief Watertender Charles Kleinsmith (1904–1942), who was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism during the Battle of Midway.

*, a planned "Rudderow"-class destroyer escort; construction was cancelled in 1944 before her keel was laid down.
*, a "Crosley"-class high-speed transport, launched in 1945; transferred to China in 1967 and renamed ROCS "Tien Shan"; served until the 1990s
