Va'ad Harabonim of Lakewood

Va'ad Harabonim of Lakewood

Va'ad Harabonim of Lakewood ("rabbinical council of Lakewood") is a rabbinical organization of Orthodox rabbis in the town of Lakewood, New Jersey. The organization, which represents the large Orthodox Haredi community in Lakewood, is primarily political, endorsing candidates for office and communicating the needs of the community to elected officials. It may also occasionally be involved in specific inter-community affairs.

Lakewood has a large Haredi population and is home to the largest Talmudic Academy in the United States, Beth Medrash Govoha. The community maintains a large and unified voting block and Lakewood is the only municipality in New Jersey with a significant non-Jewish population to have an Orthodox Jewish Haredi mayor, Meir Lichtenstein . The Vaad is instrumental in the unity and voting power of the community, and maintains a level of hegemony within Lakewood politics.

Any citizen who is not personally connected with the Va'ad, is completely eliminated from the political playing field in Lakewood, NJ. This is because the Orthodox, at present, have the largest voting block in the Lakewood area. Therefore, anything they desire, or not, they obtain.

Once the absentee, slumlords buy out a majority of the homes in a particular "target" neighborhood, they proceed to rent these single family homes; designated for merely five occupants or less - to dozens of illegal aliens. Who in turn destroy the property values of any surrounding homes. Not to mention the added bonus of blaring, thumping music - trash surrounding the entire rental. Cars parked on what used to be grass lawns; of course they are all out of state plates. Which the illegals never, ever have to worry about changing over when they move to Lakewood, NJ. Lakewood is an official "sanctuary city" for the tens of thousands of illegal aliens who are given places to live there; and given work illegally there as well.
