*Der Schlern , a magazine for South Tyrolean regional studies
*Logo pressed intoLoacker 's wafer biscuitsThe peak at the north west end of the mountain (right, in the image at right) was first ascended in 1888 by Johann Santner. It is named the Santner Spitze in his honour.
The Sciliar dominates the town of
Siusi allo Sciliar , and the summit can be reached by following the trail marked with the number 1 from the town.At 1700m, there is a mountain refuge , "Rifugio Malghetta Sciliar" (German: "Schlernboden"), open from 1st June to 15th October. Near the summit is the "Rifugio Bolzano" (German: "Schlernhaus") (2457m).
