Limping bimetallism was a
monetary system in theUnited States that was partially dependent onsilver but primarily dependent ongold . It was developed after the abandonment ofbimetallism and the adoption of thegold standard in 1873. TheBland-Allison Act of 1878 allowed the coining of newsilver dollar s, thus creating this system, which was then abandoned again once theGold Standard Act of 1900 was enacted.
