Abraham Roberts was a member of the famous
Waterford city family that contributed so much to the city. He was the son of Anne Sandys and the Reverend John Roberts, [cite web|title=The peerage|url=http://www.thepeerage.com/p24147.htm#i241468] amagistrate in the County of Waterford and a rector of Passage East.Career
General Sir Abraham Roberts gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the
Honourable East India Company and was the commander of the 1st Bengal European Regiment and theLahore Division [cite web|title=ny times|url=http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9801E7D91F31E132A25755C1A9679C94669ED7CF] . He fought in theFirst Afghan War .He was invested as a
Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath (GCB). He left India in1853 to live inIreland with his 2nd wife, who outlived him.
