- Yaqub al-Ghusayn
Yaqub al-Ghusayn ( _ar. يعقوب الغصين, ArTranslit|Ya‘qoub al Ghussein) (1899-1947) was an aristocratic
Palestinian landowner fromRamla and founder of theYouth Congress Party . He graduated in law from theUniversity of Cambridge . Ghussein was elected president of the firstNational Congress of Arab Youth , held inJaffa in January 1932. He was a member and representative of his party in theArab Higher Committee from its formation in 1936. In 1937 he was a member of theSupreme Muslim Council . On1 October of the same year he was exiled by the British to theSeychelles Islands for being a member of the Arab Higher Committee, which was dissolved by the British. He was a member of the Palestinian delegation to the London Conference atSt. James's Palace in February 1939.Ghussein reconstituted his faction in 1945. He died in
Jerusalem on27 December , 1947.Married to Thuriya Nuseibeh, also Palestinian Noble, they had 11 children; Talat, Khaled, Abdel-Kareem, Tawfiq, Aida, Khalida, Heya, Motia’a, Khadija, Nuzha and Fatoum.
