The Herzegovinans ("Hercegovci", Херцеговци; sing. Herzegovinan, "Hercegovac", Херцеговац) are the people who hail from the
Herzegovina region ofBosnia and Herzegovina and westernMontenegro as well. A Herzegovinan may also go by the popular nickname of "Ero".The region which is Herzegovina forms a part of the
Dinaric Alps . Regardless of ethnicity, the ethnic groups which compose Herzegovina's population tend to identify as Herzegovinan at a regional rather than an ethno-religious level.Demographics

1991 census , the part of Herzegovina situated in Bosnia and Herzegovina was recorded as having a population of 437,095 inhabitants. They were:
*Croats: 206,457 (47.2%),
*Bosniaks: 112,948 (25.8%)
*Serbs: 93,047 (21.3%)
*Yugoslavs: 18,494 (4.2%)
