Abilio Manuel Guerra Junqueiro (
September 17 ,1850 —July 7 ,1923 ) was a Portugueselawyer for theUniversity of Coimbra , a high administrative employee, member of thePortuguese House of Representatives ,journalist ,author , andpoet . His work help inspire the creation of thePortuguese First Republic . Junqueiro wrote highly satiric poems criticizing conservatism, romanticism, and the Church leading up to the Portuguese Revolution of 1910.Born in
Freixo de Espada à Cinta ,Trás-os-Montes ,Portugal to José António Junqueiro Júnior, asupply trader andfarmer , and wife Ana Maria Guerra. His mother died when he was only three years old.After marrying Filomena Augusta da Silva Neves on
February 10 ,1880 , the couple had two children; Maria Isabel Guerra Junqueiro onNovember 11 ,1880 , second wife without issue of Luís Augusto de Sales Pinto da Mesquita de Carvalho (1868-1931) and Júlia Guerra Junqueiro in 1881, unmarried and without issue.
