Sho-Bud

Sho-Bud is a brand name for a manufacturer of pedal steel guitars. The founders were SHOt Jackson and BUDdy Emmons, both active steel players in the 1950s. In the 70s they also expanded their line and offered acoustic guitars, essentially Martin copies which were very well made in Japan. They also made a line of Resonators in conjunction with Gretsch under the name Sho-Bro, a play on the word Dobro. However, first and foremost, Sho-Bud is known as the premier pedal steel guitar brand of all time. The name is currently owned by Gretsch, which is in turn owned by Fender, and there are no models in production. However, the descendents of Shot Jackson have resurrected the family business and launched Jackson Steel, offering a few models of what some people are calling the finest pedal steels ever made.
