Allan "The Weasel" Ross (b. 194?) is a Canadian mobster notorious for his involvement in large scale drug shipments and murder as a captain and leader of Montreal's
West End Gang for seven years.Born in
Montreal, Quebec ,Canada , Ross replaced the murderedFrank "Dunie" Ryan as leader of the West End Gang in late 1984. He solidified and expanded the gang's vast drug connections to the US, South America and Europe.Less than two weeks after Ryan's death, Ross was believed to behind the a large bomb blast at a Montreal apartment occupied by Ryan's alleged killers and two of their associates. All 4 people in the room were killed instantly and 8 others in the building were also injured.
He was picked up by US authorities in 1991 while vacationing in Florida on charges of
first degree murder . He was alleged to have sent two West end gang members to Florida to kill another gang member he suspected would turn informant. The pair of killers executed the target but in the process also wounded a Florida Highway patrolman who stopped them just after they had dumped the victim's body. A telephone number found on a piece of paper on the victim linked the crime back to Ross in Canada.Acquitted of the first-degree murder charges thus sparing him from the electric chair, he was nevertheless convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and cocaine trafficking. He was sentenced to life plus thirty years in prison and likely will never again become a free man. He is currently serving his sentence at a federal penitentiary in
Lewisburg, Pennsylvania .After his imprisonment,
