Stöðvarfjörður is a small village in east
Iceland . It sits on afjord of the same name. It has about 277 inhabitants. Employment was once predominantly found in fishing, though now it is largely textile-based. Most of the young people have left Fact|date=February 2007, thus the community youth hall has been closed due to disuse.Steinnsafn Petru (Petra's Stone Museum), is the only formal tourist attraction in the town, and accounts for a modest stream of visitors to the fjord during the tourist season.
