Bankaktiebolaget Avanza is the largest online stock broker in the Nordic countries with more than 150 000 customers and the largest number of deals on the Stockholm Stock ExchangeFact|date=August 2008. Avanza is one of the options open to private investors who want to play an active part in their investments and savings programmes. Avanza provides their customers with the tools and support they need to increase the value of their savings.

Avanza is listed on the Nordic List's Mid Cap (ticker symbol AZA.ST).

History

Avanza was founded in 1997 as the first online stock broker in Sweden. In 2001 it merged with HQ.se and Aktiespararnas fondkommissionaer Aktiespar. This merger made Avanza the largest online broker in Sweden with more than 150 000 active customers and a 50% market share among the online brokers.

In May 2006, Avanza acquired Boersveckan AB - the company behind the stock magazine with the same name.

In September 2006, Avanza launched the online magazine Placera Nu, with Peter Benson as chief editor.
