Gulliver's Travels ."Lord Flimnap was a progressive rock trio from
Israel . They released one album called "Point of View" in1989 .History
Lord Flimnap was formed by two 16-year-old school mates from
Rishon Letzion , Israel. Their names wereItay Eyal andAlon Weissman . In1989 Ohad Goldbart joined in. Ohad, who was residing inBeer Sheva , was the youngest, having 15 years. They rehearsed on material that was written by Itay and Ohad, and in a relative short time they recorded their debut album. It took them about 60 hours to record, full of musical inspiration. The title of the cd was 'Point of View'. When it was published, their full names were dropped out, with the intention of hiding the fact that they were Israeli. The only notes on the sleeve were the three questions: Where do these guys come from? What are their names? and how old are they? The material was solemnly in English and they soled mainly in Germany. In
2004 the album was reissued by theThird Ear label (also known as 'Ear-Say') and this time there were four extra bonus tracks, two of which are sung in Hebrew. This edition had their full names credited on the sleeve. It is a remarkable relic for Progressive rock fans, made in spirits of naivity but with a genuine touch that makes it an interesting gem. After a period of 15 years of relative silence, Itay and Ohad met again to form up a new line-up called ' [http://www.goldoolins.com The Goldoolins] ' along with Itay's wife. They are now active with two albums in the market and another one on the way out.
For the gigs after the debut album two more musicians participated in a new line-up: [http://www.poznansky.com Amit Poznansky] and Yoel (Joca) Perpinian, two brilliant musicians which were just as highly trained as the other three.
In the period thereafter several recording sessions took place with different combinations of the original members, including new comer guitarist Lonny Ziblat and of course with Amit and Yoel. Two of the bonus tracks were taken from this forum.
Influences
Their influences may include names like King Crimson, Peter Hammill, Hatfield, Emerson Lake & Palmer (ELP), Genesis and Gentle Giant. Influence from the Israeli music scene may be very subtle but it definitely would include people like Shlomo Gronich and groups like 'Ktsat Akheret' (='Slightly differently').
