Bryan Gordon

Bryan Gordon is a prominent television and film director. He has been nominated three times for the coveted Directors Guild of America Award and in 2002 received the Directors Guild award for comedy directing. He’s been nominated for an Emmy twice – both for his work on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Directing such celebrated TV series as The Office to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip to The West Wing to Ally McBeal to Boston Public to Freaks and Geeks to The Wonder Years, he is one of the few directors to do both comedy and drama.

He has become one of the most sought after television pilot directors, taking on several projects each year. He directed the pilot and set the look and design for the long running series One Tree Hill. In 2007 he traveled to South Africa to direct the pilot for a new series about an American family living in the bush for the CW Network, Life is Wild, which will premiere in the fall, 2007.

He started his career as an independent filmmaker that included writing and directing the Academy Award winning short Ray’s Male Heterosexual Dance Hall and the feature films Career Opportunities (film) and Pie in the Sky starring Anne Heche, John Goodman, and Christine Lahti.

He was born and raised in Dover, Delaware. He graduated from Dover High School and the University of Delaware where he has been honored as a member of the University’s Wall of Fame.

He and his family live in Los Angeles, California. He is married to filmmaker Jessie Nelson who wrote and directed such films as
I Am Sam starring Sean Penn and Dakota Fanning and Corrina, Corrina starring Whoopi Goldberg.
