Newport (IW) F.C. (also known as Newport (IoW) F.C. or Newport (Isle of Wight) F.C.) are a football club based in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England, They were established on 27 January 1888 and were founder members of the Wessex League in 1986.

History

The club joined the Hampshire League in 1983, then joined the Wessex League on its formation in 1986. A second place finish in 1990 saw them promoted to the Southern League, initially in the Southern (later renamed Eastern) Division. In 2001 they were promoted to the Premier Division but were relegated straight back again.

For the 2004-05 season the club was moved into the Isthmian League First Division. The following season they finished in a relegation position but were spared the drop due to Banstead Athletic's resignation from the league. Due to another reorganisation of the National League System, they were moved back to the Southern League, playing in Division One South and West for the 2006-07 season.

In the Pre-Season of 2007/2008 Newport (IW) FC took a Home Match vs local Premier League team Portsmouth FC. The match was a campacity crowd with the score finishing 9-0 to Portsmouth FC, the Premier League team had top players on the pitch, including David Nugent, Lomano lua lua, Sol Campbell and Sulley Muntari.

Ground

Newport play at St Georges Park on the outskirts of Newport. The ground has one seated stand and shelters at each end. Capacity for the ground is 3,200.
